MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Participant’s and Sponsor’s:

        This is our 45th Annual rodeo and is somewhat of a milestone for the Hell Divers; therefore I wish everyone the best of luck, along with good weather, great times and a safe return. I also would like to see many smiles due to all the great catches.

        As the President of the Hell Divers Spearfishing Club, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Participant’s and Sponsor’s that allow our rodeo to continue.  We consider the Hell Divers not only a club of men, but a brotherhood and we have many great people and organizations that help. If it were not for all of the various sponsors, participants, and supporters, the event that everyone waits for all year long would not be possible. 

I’ve been in the Hell Divers since 1992, and would like to thank some of my mentors that took me under their wings to teach me the unique way of spear fishing the Oil Rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.  If it were not for the special people in our club, the Hell Divers would not be the brotherhood that it has become today, so thanks to Carl “Graybeard” Lowe, Sr., Terry “Pappa Smurf” Migaud, and Louis “The Rok” Rossignol as well as several other members in the club.  These three (3) individuals have a combined Hundred Years plus in scuba diving and spearfishing experience, so I could not have asked for better teachers in the art of spearfishing.

            The Hell Divers would like to express our condolences to the family and friends in the recent passing of Papa Nash.  For the last 20 years or so he was a supporter and participant at the Hell Divers Rodeo. His passing will be a loss to the diving community and he will be sadly missed.

With that said we look forward to seeing everyone at the rodeo site, which is located at the Peninsula in the Kenner Boat Launch, right next to the Treasure Chest Casino.

Lastly, I would like to thank City of Kenner and all affiliates of the Kenner Boat Launch for allowing us to have our rodeo at their location during the prime time of the year.
