Top 10 Louisiana State Spearfishing Records Information

Fish entered into the State records must be speared in Louisiana waters.  If offshore, ports of embarkation and debarkation must be Louisiana ports.  All Louisiana laws must be obeyed including proper fishing licenses.  In general, the same rules apply for the LCUDC Derby Board apply to the state records.  These include: no power heads, no assistance until fish is brought to the boat or shoreline, and no using a BC to aid in bringing a fish to the surface.  A picture must be submitted along with the following  information: Male/Female, Skin/Scuba, Name, Club(if any), Fish Name, Weight, Date Shot, Place Weighed, Fishing lic. #, General Area of Catch, Catch Witness, Weigh Witness.  All fish must be weighed on a State certified scale.  Time limit is one year from date fish is speared.

You need not belong to the LCUDC to register a state record fish. The records are kept for all divers.
